Day 4

I have finally successfully made it to Madrid and back on my own. I feel worlds better about my life here now that I at least have a couple points of reference and am confident that I can get home. It has been weird not having my cell phone, but I bought a watch today from a super nice Columbian chap at Plaza Espana and with my watch and maps that I kind of know how to use now that I know which direction I am facing, I am much more comfortable and excited to explore here. Everything here is so beautiful, and Madrid is amazing, I look forward to exploring it in the heat, as it has been cold and raining this week.

Elena asked me to play with Hugo in an area outside at their club while Sophia was in her horseback riding class and she went shopping. We played soccer for a while, and then, it starts pouring rain, it was already cold so we went in the main office building, very small. Hugo is some piece of work, especially in public places, that 1.25 hours seemed like an entire day. I don’t think dealing with this little boy is going to get any easier. However, I now understand which soaps to use for his bath, apparently yesterday I misread the labels and tried to wash him with lotion. I told Elena once I realized my mistake and she just laughed Thank goodness for a patient family.
The girls got a kick out of my reaction to seeing an entire shrimp with the head for the first time, and laughed even harder watching me try to eat it. Sophia taught me the proper method—these shrimp you have to peel. The rice had something else in it, I asked what it was, and Sophia told me it was calamar, it was freaking delicious! I just barely looked it up, it’s squid. Love. :)
