How
on earth does my hair straightener quit functioning and my eyeliner and mascara
run dry all AT THE SAME TIME? Whatever, I guess there are things of greater importance. :p
I
continued today with my Monday Prado project. I still haven’t seen everything,
I found endless rooms leading into other rooms leading into staircases leading
into floors filled with rooms leading into other rooms . . . it never ends. I have
been so spoiled with everything I get to see. There are SO many paintings in
Prado, and so many of them are GINORMOUS that when I walked into one room with
a bunch of tiny sketches by Goya, I almost complained about having to get so
close to make them out. They actually turned out to be some of my favorites. I didn't realize how well the paintings are protected. There are little ropes no more than three feet high, a few feet away from the walls, but apparently if you lean over them, it creates a loud beeping noise which immediately summons a security guard.
Elena
has a workshop today and tomorrow for work, and today didn’t come back with the
girls until 8:30. This means lots of one-on-one time with Hugo. He’s really easiest
to deal with that way. We actually had a lot of fun, and I wasn’t hit, kicked,
bit, or called stupid or a witch. I did have to break up a few fights between
him and another violent cutie in the urba, and he yelled at me a little bit, but
that was it. He was definitely more compliant and obedient than he normally is
with me. Progress again. Yes!
I
pushed harder today to play more with the kids, and was with them every minute having
some good moments until Elena yelled at them to shower, and later to go to bed.
I think this is progress too, since I was spending lots of time with them
before, but it didn’t seem to be enough for Elena. She had a long day and was a
bit flustered. Today is the first time she’s touched beer (at least in the house)
since Carlos has left. Poor woman.
