Day 11

Today I found the most beautiful gem yet in Madrid: the LDS temple. If you can’t read the inscription on the statue, it says: Las Familias Pueden Ser Eternas. I thought about my family quite a bit while I was there and some of the things I miss:
  • Playing Go Fish Go Fish and jumping on the trampoline with Katie and Brooke
  • Matt mumbling ‘Mornin' Jack’ every time he would pass me.
  • Callie floating around the house all airily and happily and her over-enthusiastic, “Hi Liz!”
  • Coming home and trying to walk through the entryway with all my music bags and a kid on each limb.
  • Stella. Stellllllaaaa!!!
  • Late night chats with my dad
  • My mom’s devious grin when I come home and her asking me piano/English related questions like I actually know something.
  • Lake being awesomely ridiculous and making me laugh so much
  • Sunday afternoons with Lindsay and Doug--the most fun couple ever

I will enjoy time with the fam more when I get back, especially with the presence of Kevin, Kimi, and Michael on the property.

On my way back from the Temple in the metro station, a sweet old lady asked me for help, and I was actually able to provide assistance! No flubs in Spanish, knowledge, or anything. Boosh!

The little time I had alone with Hugo actually went well today, I was a friend again, but he didn’t want me to bathe him, so I worked in the kitchen while Elena dealt with him. In the car coming home from the girls’ horseback riding lessons Hugo announced that his father would be home when we got there. He started crying, screaming and protesting when Elena tried to explain that his father would not be there for a long time. :(

Tomorrow we go to Bilbao to stay with Elena’s parents until Tuesday since it is yet another holiday. I’ll update if I have internet, if not, thanks for reading and have a lovely weekend.
