Another baffling moment with the girls and their breakfast. Elena bought a cereal that they like which consists of sugary granola clusters and chocolate pieces. I saw Sophia taking the chocolate chunks out. I asked if she didn't like them, she responded, "si, pero hay muchos." Too much chocolate? I don't get it.
On
this cold and blustery day I met up with Will, the tutor from Florida. It was
nice to have someone to explore with who shares my confusion, hatred for cold,
and love for art. We went to Prado, his first time and he was overwhelmed, my
second time and I was still overwhelmed. I saw all new stuff from the last time
I went and still have lots and lots to see. We might make it a weekly project
on Mondays, since that’s when most of the other sites are closed. We got lunch
in Plaza de Neptuno. One of the specials was escalope, I looked up the meaning
which read ‘escalope.’ Super helpful. I decided to order it having no idea what
it was. It was some sort of delicious fried fish. I’m definitely a fan of all
the seafood here, and the other food, I love gazpacho!
Hugo
came straight to my room after getting home from school, per usual. We played
for a little bit, and then he cuddled with me while I read stories in Spanish
for almost an hour. Despite my poor reading skills, Hugo loves for me to read
to him, and kept asking me to read more. Once Elena arrived he told her that he
wished I would go back to my home. No comment. He was ‘punished’ later tonight
for biting me while I was putting his pajamas on. His punishment was not
getting a bedtime story.
Claudia
likes nothing better than watching me struggle. She asked me to read in French,
then dictated French words for me to write so she could correct my spelling. I’m learning a lot here, what I
learned today is that I don’t know anything in French.
