After
very little sleep, I head out early to the train station, buy a ticket to
Toledo and off I go.
Toledo
is darling, I adore Toledo. The historic portion of it is this little city of
stone with windy roads and a bunch of cool sites all within walking distance.
It’s very hilly, walking around this city was pretty much hiking all day. At
first I would see palaces and think, ‘that’s a palace?... ok.’ It looked just like
all the other stone buildings did. Then I found the Cathedral. Whoa. One of the
most magnificent things I have ever seen ever. My face returned to a state of
my jaw being locked open and my eyes the size of tennis balls. It was just too
much to take in both inside and outside. The other monasteries, churches,
castle, and museums were cool too, but the cathedral was definitely my
favorite. I greatly enjoyed my time there and met some fun people and had very
interesting conversations about religion and politics with Europeans.
On
the train home the man sitting next to me starts up conversation. He was
speaking Latin-American Spanish, and I later learned that he was from Mexico.
It was fun after we learned this because he would change with the flow of
conversation fro Spanish to English, and I never had any difficulty understanding
or responding. I still wouldn’t call myself bilingual, but my Spanish has
definitely been improving here.
I am
so wiped, but in a couple hours I
need to get to the airport to catch my flight to Barcelona. Why did Elizabeth
have to schedule such an early flight? I didn’t realize when I booked it that
the metro and bus that goes to Pozuelo doesn’t start running until 6am, so
it’ll be an adventure getting there on time. Pray for me. Love y’all.
P.S. Three weeks from now I will be dancing. :)
