This
morning, wake up, roll out of bed, get dressed and tip toe out of the house
while the family is sleeping, take an hour and a half bus/metro ride to the
temple and I wait. Two hours of waiting, and I have luck joining a beautiful group from
Portugal for baptisms! The ordinances were done in Portuguese, and the water
was cold, and it was an absolutely beautiful experience. So so so so so so so so so
so happy!!! :D
Today I
hit Museo de America. I had to, naturally. It was nice being more familiar with the history. Mexican ceramics have the most
hideous portrayals of women I have ever seen, and I have seen a lot being here.
I’m staring at this little ceramic sculpture thinking, ‘what IS this?’ I look
at the caption: Figura Femenina. ‘What?!’ Two ceramic sculptures later, ‘gosh,
this is ugly, what is it?’ Caption: Figura de un Mujer. Really? They just kept
coming. The masculine figures looked much more feminine to me. In any case, I
had fun, a lot of the stuff made me laugh, which was good.
When
I got back, Hugo ran to the door and greeted me with an enthusiastic, “Elleeeeesawbeth!”
Then I was busy for the rest of the day. Ok, so the kid can be kinda cute
sometimes. It is slightly adorable that he is absolutely enchanted with birds. He excitedly points them out in pictures and stories, and he gets a whole new aura whenever he sees them in the urba and he runs to get
them. Sometimes, he insists on lowering a jump rope out the window so the birds
will come and perch on it and he can reel them in and keep them. Of course, despite him almost being cute, he
was a brat later today, but there’s some progress. His reluctance to listen to me has
definitely lessened.
